Patio Pet Doors are designed for installation where a sliding door currently exist or will be installed. When selecting a patio pet door that will work for your home, you should measure the dimensions you need before deciding on a certain model. To find a door that will fit please follow these tips:
1.) Measure the Channel distance of your current door - This measurement will ensure you have the proper height of door. The measurement should be taken from the very bottom of the doors channel (on the floor) to the very top channel (on the ceiling). Please do not assume that you have a standard size and that any door will fit.
2.) Measure the track width - This measurement is to assure the door you are interested in will fit in the channels. If the door is too wide, it will not fit your application. If the door is too narrow, it will not be stable and move around within the track channels.
Please measure accurately: Patio pet doors are our most exchanged items due to miscalculations. It is highly recommended measurements are carefully documented for your sliding door, track channels, and the product of interest.
Types of Doors
Aluminum Patio Doors - Fast Fit Doors - are Single Pane doors, typically narrower (5/8" frame thickness) and taller than vinyl doors. These doors are easily installed/removed when compared to the vinyl doors (Vinyl doors require permanent settings with screws to fasten it.)
Vinyl Patio Doors - VIP - have Dual Pane Glass, are typically wider than Aluminum doors, and on average shorter in height. Vinyl patio doors are used for more permanent installation applications.
